On the occasion, the Minister-President highlighted that Bavaria is very keen to strengthen its relations with Ethiopia and open up new business avenues. He also told the president that the Free State of Bavaria has opened its Africa Office in Addis Ababa, to foster stronger business ties and develop cooperation between Ethiopia and Bavaria. Welcoming the delegation at the National Palace, President Sahle-Work said there has been a very good momentum in the relations of Ethiopia and Germany and the visit of the officials and business people is a good sign that the relationship between the two countries is on the right direction. “I am very happy to see such a high level delegation, and is a great pleasure receiving you. There is a lot where we can work together,” the president underscored. It is to be recalled that a delegation from the Free State of Bavaria, comprised of representatives from sixty companies has been paying a visit to Ethiopia and met government officials and representatives of the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations. Situated at the south east of Germany, the Free State of Bavaria has the second largest economy of the German states in terms of GDP.
President receives Ivanka Trump Arrived in Addis Ababa yesterday for two days visit in Ethiopia, the eldest daughter of President Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump was received by H.E. President Sahle-Work Zewde at the National Palace this morning, April 15, 2019.
The discussion was focused on the activities currently being undertaken to promote Women empowerment and equality.
Ms Trump explained about Women's Global Development and Prosperity Initiative, which aims to promote women’s economic empowerment across the globe. A programme announced by her father two months ago, the initiative builds around three core pillars of intervention: women prospering in the workforce, women succeeding as entrepreneurs and women enabled in the economy.
Appreciating the transformational process in Ethiopia, Ivanka applauded the measures taken by Ethiopia to promote gender equality, citing the gender parity in the cabinet, and also reiterated united state’s support for this noble cause. President Sahle-Work Zewde on her part said the initiative taken by President Trump to assist women across the globe is good and acceptable, as long as it centers on women and takes the issues of women to the next height.
