President Sahle-Work Zewde held talks with Kristalina Georgieva , Chief Executive Officer of the World Bank.
During the meeting, the strong partnership between Ethiopia and World Bank was the main taking point. The president thanked the World Bank for its continued support to the development endeavors of the country.
The Chief Executive Officer, on her part expressed that the bank will continue supporting Ethiopia in various sectors.

President opens Ethiopia Water and Energy Week

President Sahle-Work Zewde opened the first ever Water and Energy Week in Ethiopia this morning.
In her opening remark, the President emphasized the need to have Cultural Revolution to deter problems related to hygiene and sanitation both in rural and urban areas.
To this effect, the president underlined the government’s efforts to increase the access to water and energy to foster the socio-economic development of the country.

President Sahle-Work Zewde telephoned and encouraged Almaz Derese, who lives in Metu and sat for National Exam just an hour after giving birth.

On her message, President Sahle-Work congratulated Almaz and appreciated her commitment to sit for the National exam in spite of all the challenges she encountered.

"You have conveyed an important message to all who struggle for women equality that education has a pivotal role to be free from all types of quagmires. ," President Sahle-Work told .

The president wished Almaz to be successful on the exams and advised her to keep it up with such energy of commitment to acquire her dream and shine again.

President addresses FIFA Women's Football Conference
President Sahle-Work Zewde who is now in Paris, France to attend Women's Football Convention 2019 says significant investment should be made to promote women and girls participation in sport.
While addressing the first ever women's Football Convention , President Sahle-Work said:
" Women football is young but growing. It doesn't enjoy the same investment as boy's does. We should invest more on women. I am confident that what we invest on women will pay off 100 fold, because women are capable. "
